This is where I started. With two kiddos, ages 4 and 2 and an ambition for sensory play.
I laid out all of the trash bags, had the vacuum ready, and even made my own yarn pompoms! 😍
This table was fun! It consisted of purple, pink and red colored rice, homemade pompoms, sequin gems, and sparkly bulletin board hearts. It was classic. While I've grown two kids richer since this first Valentine's season and much more saavy in the sensory play realm, this was golden! My little people played a TON with the pompoms and sequin gems. The pompoms only held up for this season, but we've been using the same colored rice since 2019.
I hope this post can remind you that you can start anywhere when it comes to sensory play. Your kids will adore you for it. Even if you lay down the trash bags, have no clue what you're doing, are nervous about the mess, and seem like you're failing! Nope... you've got this! Kids aren't critical or discriminatory when it comes to open-ended sensory play.
Happy Valentine's month!! ❤️
